The Art of Bengal
Wednesday, 17 May 2023, 11 am - 4 pm
Victoria Memorial Hall presents a hands-on guided workshop on the Bengal School of Art
(19 th and 20 th century), exploring both the history of the movement and techniques such as
miniature and Japanese water-colour wash, that give the ‘Art of Bengal’ its unique character.

Eligibility:

1. Students between classes IX and XII.
2. Interested in learning about art.
3. Willing to actively participate in art-making. 
4. Knowledge of English / Bengali / Hindi.
5. Registration is limited to 25 participants on first-come-first-served basis.

Curators of Tomorrow
13 May 2023 – 18 May 2023 | 11 am – 3 pm


Victoria Memorial Halls presents a unique opportunity our young friends to be a curator at
India’s most visited museum for 6 days during the summer vacation! This workshop on
museum curation will involve details about the VMH’s art collection and an opportunity to
curate an exhibition from them.

Participants will be expected to:
1. Work in a group of 20 students.
2. Choose a theme for the exhibition.
3. Select paintings and objects from the VMH's collection.
4. Research and prepare captions and texts.
5. Decide (with the help of the VMH team) on how best to display the objects.


Eligibility:
1. Students between classes IX and XII.
2. Interested in art and history.
3. Ability to work in a group.
4. Can devote 4 - 5 hours per day to the workshop.
5. Registration is limited to 20 participants, on first-come-first served basis.
