attributed to a follower of Thomas Hudson, circa 1745, oil on
canvas, size:127.1 X 100.3cm (without frame). The English frame
carved in pine with original oil-guilding, size : 147.7 X 122.2
cm. Samuel Feake of Durrington House, Essex, was the Governor
of Bengal in 1732 and Chairman of the East India Company in 1744.
Thomas Hudson, the most fashionable portrait painter during this
period never went to India. Still this shows his style. |
